I am looking to buy a cheap 56K external USB modem and have only found expensive ones online (lowest with the features was $60). I am trying to put together my old G4 tower for a retired friend (his health is very bad) so that he can enjoy his life right now. Unfortunately, I did not purchase the modem option when I bought the G4 (it has vertical audio jacks in the back; runs at 500 MHz and easily copes with OS X Panther). Apparently, the internal modems are virtually non-existent; but I would guess that option would be best if I could find one guaranteed to work with the G4.
